Satori Women's Applied Karate

& Self Defence

Satori Women’s Applied Karate is a course designed for Women to deal with real life situations using self defence techniques. Instead of the typical sport based karate, the course will focus on street fighting skills (self defence). You will develop a variety of skills including awareness, confidence, coordination, strength, speed and flexibility. I have found that although women generally aren't as strong as men, their coordination can far excel that of a man’s. You can utilize the pressure point attacks of karate. So not only will you will be taught how to hit but more importantly where to hit.

Techniques included are
- Kicking
- Pressure Points
- Throwing (sweeping)
- Joint Locks
- Striking

Your main Instructor for Satori Bournemouth will be Steve Goodhand. Steve is a versatile martial artist who has a background in Kung Fu (over 15 years), is an experienced grappler (ju jitsu, wrestling) and is now Shotokan practitioner. Steve has an extensive understanding of how to deal with hostile situations using Karate techniques (among others) in everyday life scenarios.

The training time is structured into five sections- Warm up, Karate Technique (including pad work), Application & Self Defence, Kata (if requested) and a Warm down.
