Iain Abernathy Course held in Bridgwater, Somerset.
Sensei Steve and Matthew attended Sensei Abernathy's course and both found it very useful on many levels.

Lyoto Machida
Shotokan Karate's Lyoto "the dragon" Machida has won the the UFC light heavyweight championship.“Karate is back,” Machida declared. “I tried all my life to be champion. I’m very, very, happy. Now, I want to keep this belt for a long time.” Lyoto is the son to Shotokan karate master Yoshizo Machida has also trained in sumo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is a great fighter to watch and uses many shotokan techniques in his fights and incorporates the longer shotokan stance. |

Club Members with the Shaolin Warriors, after their show in Poole.
A few members where very lucky to get a chance to meet the Shaolin Warriors after their show in The Poole Lighthouse. The show was a fantasic display of martial arts, feats of strength and acrobatics. We were all very impressed show and grateful to monks for giving us some of their time after the show. |

Sensei Adrian Rowe (on the left), Iaido course
Sensei Rowe of the MST Academy Sheffield took Satori members through some basic Iaido. He went though how to draw and sheathe a katana, the later being most dangerous move in Iaido. Also how to strike downwards, using left land for power and right for brake. A flowing Bokan exercise in pairs of striking and blocking and the 5th Iaido kata. Everyone enjoyed the course and hopes Ade will return to do another soon.

New Friday Dojo |

We now run our Friday Classes at the GB Academy. The Academy facilities include: extensive matted area, punch bags, boxing ring the works.

Club Logo
You can have the Satori Martial Arts club logo embroidered on to you gi. Just go FSG Safety Solutions in Winton (BH9 2UD) and give them your gi, its cost £6 and is very high quality. All new gi's will have the club logo on them.
I will also have SMA hoodys, polo shirts, and t-shirts soon, the prices will start from £10.
Course
Sensei Leggett will be in Bournemouth in June 09 for an advanced kata course. I will confirm the final date asap.
Equipment
I can order in any equipment you require, just contact me with your requests. Alternatively you will find all your equipment needs at the bulldog martial arts shop on Old Christchurch Rd.
Media
A new Satori DVD is available. The DVD contains extensive coverage of the shotokan grading system, from 9th Kyu (red belt) to 1st kyu (brown 3, one belt before black). The new DVD is interactive and contains techniques captured at different camera angles and different speeds. It is one of the clearest and most detailed karate instructional DVD on the market.
Web updates
A lot more new media will be added to the website soon, including more interactive katas, techniques and historical writings on martial arts. Also please check and contribute to our forum. |
