Yeah, as you say, it did look sloppy at points, but he certainly got the job done regardless. I guess form's a worthy sacrifice to make if it means you get to punch the guy in the gut at least one more time.
Real fighting and competition doesn't look sharp as practice. But I wouldn't call him sloppy, perfect sweeps, kicks and punches. Maybe you see his deceptive movement and footwork as different, and very, very fast.
