Ten no Kata(天の方):
Ten no kata, is form of basics performed basically from the same spot for each movement rather than moving in a patten like most kata. The kata does not appear in JKA (KUGB, SKI etc.) Shotokan based systems, but is practiced by some Shotokan clubs. Maybe because it is not an original Okinawan form. The kata seems to be more populer in Shotokai.
It was formulated around 1941 by Gichin Funakoshi (some sources claim it was actually Gichin Funakoshi's son Yoshitaka). Ten no kata consists of two complementary parts, front (Omote) and back (Ura).
The kata seems to be very useful to use as a drill at the start of classes to both practice basics and raise spirit ready for training.
We only have one student who has practiced it before, but I would like to change that and utilise the kata as above.
I cant find many videos but here is one link so you get the idea:

If anyone can find more infomation and a better video that would be great.
