Hello,
I know that in any marshal art a smaller person can still defeat a bigger and stronger one. But in some MA like BJJ it doesn't take much strength but more technique to bring someone down. So can anyone name types MA that fit into this category?
Thank you for your time
All martial arts work on techniques that can give you an advantage on your opponent (big, small). The very fact that you are training should give you the jump on an untrained person. However some martial art schools either take along time to master or focus on ineffective forms and patterns. Which can leave you in more danger if the you try an ineffective or unmastered technique in the street. So be careful. As a rule it is not the style but the school, does the school teach effective simple street defence? But its a case of finding a school you like.
If you mean strength rather than size, of course strength can have an advantage. As well as speed, co-ordination etc.. A martial artist should try and develop in all areas.
Hope this help.
For martial techniques that can give a advantage on your opponent . It is one of the good training should give to the untrained person . If you can mean strength rather than size, to speed as well as co- ordination etc . It should be develop to try in all areas .
Yes and a run in with bully intent upon beating your child up, or worse yet, a predator trying to snatch him or her away, is a lot different than any "self-defense" scenario they will face at a Karate studio. To get out of these types of situations, a better approach is needed than those provided by traditional martial arts.

Traditional martial arts, and especially karate, provide you with the necessary training to solve such situations. A good karate education trains aspects like speed, strength, accuracy, awareness and (probably most importantly) mental discipline. If that does not help in an evil bully/animal attack, what will?
